Dr. Marios Panagiotis Efthymiopoulos

Dr. Marios Panagiotis Efthymiopoulos is the Head of Strategy International Greece. He is a visiting scholar at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at SAIS Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC, EU Center for Excellence, Washington DC. He previously held positions at the George Washington University Business School as a senior scholar, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Southeast Europe Policy Scholar, Washington DC USA, University Of Cyprus, Lecturer and is a constant guest at the Joint War College of Greece and NATO’s base in Souda Bay. He is a graduate of the NATO Defense College (NADEFCOL), Rome. Worked at NATO, the UN Industrial Development Organization(UNIDO) and the Chicago’s Cook County’s Treasurer’s Office in Illinois USA. 


Dr. Efthymiopoulos holds a PhD from the University of Crete in Greece, a Masters Degree from the University of Vienna & The Diplomatic Academy of Vienna- in Advanced International Relations, attended the MSc in Russian and Post-Soviet Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and holds a BA (Hons) in International Relations and Politics by the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside.


Dr. Efthymiopoulos is an expert on strategic and security issues. His field of expertize is concentrated in International Organizations. His research concentrations are: global and Southeast European strategies & policies of international organizations, defense analysis, international negotiations and inter-organizational & intelligence collaboration. Dr. Efthymiopoulos is the Chief Editor of the online Journal of South East European Security Strategy and Transatlantic Leadership, co-sponsored by NATO.
